The sixth edition of the event, powered by global account receivable and expense management solution Raenest, will take place in February, connecting over 1,000 African and international industry leaders, investors, and startups from across the African tech ecosystem. The annual Investment Showcase allows selected ventures to showcase their products and services to a diverse audience of local and international investors and tech leaders.

More than 250 entries were received from various countries across Africa, with 10 startups eventually selected, spanning fintech, agri-tech, e-commerce, Web3, and climate-tech. They are all looking to raise funding ranging from US$500,000 to US$15 million.

Selected Startups

Four of the selected companies are from Kenya: Node Bio, which utilises cutting-edge plant science to develop crop treatment that effectively combat the adverse effects of climate change; Tausi App, a beauty tech company that is leveraging technology to link beauticians to potential customers; Peercarbon, a climate fintech startup leveraging granular emissions data and cutting-edge sustainable finance technology to empower African SMEs; and URBANET, which promotes international dialogue on development activities worldwide.

Four more are from Nigeria, namely Bingtellar, which is building payment infrastructure for global citizens including freelancers, remote workers, contractors, and businesses; Dukka, which is digitising payments and bookkeeping solutions to assist small businesses; Feegor, a B2B e-commerce company connecting SMEs to manufacturers and major wholesalers; and Regxta, which is making financial services accessible to underserved communities and micro-businesses in rural and peri-urban areas across Africa.

The other two selected startups are Egypt’s Valu, MENA’s leading Buy Now Pay Later lifestyle-enabling fintech platform, and Uganda’s FutureLink Technologies, a digital marketplace that is simplifying financial access for individuals and facilitating payments for financial cooperatives. These startups are part of a growing trend of innovative companies in Africa, and their selection for the Investment Showcase demonstrates the continent’s thriving tech ecosystem.

According to the report, amidst the challenging backdrop of decreased funding for African startups in 2023, the spirit of entrepreneurship continues to thrive across the continent. The main objective of the showcase is to connect these ventures with both local and global investors.

Henry Umunnakwe, ecosystems and sales manager of Africa Tech Summit, said, “Amidst the challenging backdrop of decreased funding for African startups in 2023, the spirit of entrepreneurship continues to thrive across the continent, and we are delighted to introduce these 10 pioneering ventures for this edition of the Investment Showcase. Our main objective of the showcase is to connect these ventures with both local and global investors. We look forward to welcoming over 1,000 delegates to the summit to catalyse collaborative efforts and propel investments to further fuel innovation and growth throughout the continent.”
