JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon announced that Mark O’Donovan, the bank’s head of international consumer banking, will become its new human resources chief in January. O’Donovan will replace Robin Leopold, who is retiring.

Leopold has been with JPMorgan Chase since 2010 and took the helm of HR in 2018. She is wrapping up a four-decade career in banking.

Daniel Llano Manibardo will succeed O’Donovan as CEO of international consumer banking. Llano Manibardo led the launch of the Chase consumer bank in Germany in May and was responsible for building its Berlin-based team.

O’Donovan’s move to the top of HR means he’ll also become a member of JPMorgan’s operating committee and relocate to New York City from London. He is a 30-year veteran of JPMorgan Chase, having held various roles including CFO of the lender’s commercial and investment bank.

Dimon praised Leopold’s tenure, saying she has been instrumental in transforming how the company manages and develops its employees. He noted that she has brought integrity, wisdom, and exceptional judgment to every matter she tackles, despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical hostilities.

Leopold and O’Donovan will work together on a transition during 2027’s first quarter. In his new role, Llano Manibardo will report to Troy Rohrbaugh, one of two executives JPMorgan named co-president in June.

O’Donovan’s experience in integrating First Republic into JPMorgan following an acquisition in 2023 will likely serve him well in his new role. As the bank’s new head of HR, he will be responsible for overseeing the development and management of JPMorgan’s employees.
